Stockholm offers a wide variety of sightseeing activities such as the Royal Castle, the Old Town and the Vasa Museum. These are popular tourist attractions where you can really feel the wings of history. You will also definitely notice how clean and safe the city is. You may even find people fishing salmon and trout in the absolute central parts of the city of Stockholm.The Tourist Information Centre in Stockholm City is an excellent source for further information about all the sights to see and the best way to get to them. As a conference delegate, you will see a lot of Stockholm just by attending the conference and living in the city, as it really just is a big little town. If you wish to explore it further, you may want to buy a "Stockholm card" for approximately 32 Euro (330 kr), which will allow you to use all public transportations, entrance to more than 75 museums, and much more. The public transportation system with the metro, buses and train is a very good way to go from A to B in Stockholm. Since distances are not very far in the city there are also the options of walking or riding a bike which are nice ways of enjoying the beauty and cleanness of Stockholm. There are of course taxis available around the clock as well. Although Sweden is above the Euro average that does not necessarily translate into Sweden being an expensive country. A fact that must be considered is that the Euro area not only includes rich countries like Germany and France but also much poorer ones like Spain, Portugal and Greece. In addition, according to the Economist's famous Big Mac index Sweden is cheaper than neighboring Denmark and a lot cheaper than Norway.
