OrganizerManimalis is a non-profit Scandinavian organization working to increase awareness of companion animals' positive effects. Manimalis strives to create a society that is planned and designed with the specific needs and desires of pet owners in mind.
It was founded in 1989, by veterinarian Ulla Björnehammar. Great role-models for Manimalis were Delta Society and SCAS, which had become known in Scandinavia for their tremendous work within the subject of Human Animal Bond. The name, Manimalis, is originally an abbreviation of Man and Animal in Society. In 1991, Manimalis was granted status as national member of IAHAIO. Since then, Manimalis regulations include the IAHAIO declarations.
